Yuck, no one really likes spiders but they are a part and parcel of
every home and garden. In every unlighted and unused part of
your home you will find spiders lurking around and going about their
daily chores. But how do you find out exactly which spider is poisonous?
Is there any distinguishing process to distinguish the poisonous from
the non-poisonous ones and also detecting which poisonous spider is
indigenous to which location in the world? Exploring the world of
spiders:
There are thousands of varieties of spiders in the world and they are
truly disgusting to look at. But even though they have a very bad
reputation, there are very few spiders that are aggressive and dangerous
to humans. Spiders are shy and use their venom only to kill their prey
for food and during hunting. Another major factor is that not all
geographical regions have poisonous spiders.
Most spider bites are also not life threatening but they can cause
severe allergic reactions that can result in death. There are, however,
a few several dangerous spiders like the Black Widow which is truly
dangerous to humans. But in order to be truly aware of the more
dangerous spiders in your regions you will have to check online.
The more dangerous variants of spiders all over the world are listed
below-
Black Widow spiders have a well deserved bad reputation. Although
when you look at the spider in a museum, you are hard pressed to believe
that such a lethargic spider could actually do anything dangerous but it
can. The spider has red markings on its underside and an hourglass
shaped picture on its belly that should identify it very well to all
unsuspecting people.
The spiders are dark and bulbous in shape and its safe to assume that
any such spiders are dangerous and will bite. Its safe to leave them be.
Black widows can be found anywhere but they are really rampant in the US
in warm and dry areas. Watch out for the rainy weather too as they tend
to move indoors and use shoes as a great hibernation area. They are also
more prominent in warmer states of the US as they prefer warm and dry
areas.
Another really dangerous variant that is common is the Brown Recluse
spider. Now as the name suggest this spider is relatively shy and stays
out of human contact. The spider is easy to recognise due to its drab
brown colour and a violin shape of body.
The brown recluse is also unique in the way that it has only six eyes
altho ugh
I wouldn’t anyone to get close enough to count unless you’ve been
already bitten. The spiders prefer mountain areas and do not venture
farther away than Nebraska. But they are experts at hiding and are very
difficult to spot. Unless you literally stamp down on them and injure
them; most recluse spiders shy away from any human contact and are not
aggressive. Hobo spiders are another variant that are found very
commonly and bites are common in people all over the country. These
spiders are commonly mistaken with the Recluse but you can identify them
due to their mottled colour and herringbone pattern on the abdomen. The
only way you can differentiate form the spiders is that the recluse
prefers the southern areas while the Hobo variant seems to like the
northern areas. Although the bites are painful and itchy, they can be
controlled with medication if caught in time.
But rest assured that most home spiders are non aggressive and prefer
to spend their time meditating on their webs. There no need to worry
about poisonous spiders but do take necessary precautions like dusting
your clothes and shoes before putting them on. Warn children to also not
put their hands or feet into dark and dry areas that may harbour
insects. |
